My cousin and her husband and sons adopted this BEE-U-TEE-FUL baby girl from South Korea last month. I met her for the first time today. She is soooo adorable and sweet and cute and cuddly and busy and all those wonderful things that babies are. She will be taking her first steps any minute now.... She is the perfect addition to the Nelson family.

My Christmas present from Mom and Dad. Actually, they gave me the money and I finally went and bought the boots I've been wanting for years. Literally, years.

They're black ostrich Lucchese from Allen's Boots on South Congress in Austin. I plan to wear them for the rest of my life.

They are beautiful and I love them. Thanks again, Mom and Dad. Love you!

Tomorrow I will harvest this--our first tomato from our garden.
I'm really impressed with us city-folk.

Another Dexter shot--napping with a stuffed bunny. Oh, the cuteness!

May 3 122/365

This is Dexter. We adopted him from Uncle Jerry and Aunt Jeanett's neighbors, Danny and Linda Selman. I don't know what made me think that a third cat was a good idea, but there it is. He's adorable, and we love him.

OK, it's a few days after the fact. Garrett did a report on Abraham Lincoln and had to dress up and deliver a speech. I am particularly proud of the hat and beard!

Lauren celebrated Swine Break '09 with a watermelon. She's the only person in the family who will eat them.

April 28 117/365

I'm pretty sure this is the last of my quasi-series of "Crap on My Dresser" shots.

April 27 116/365

These very old binoculars were my dad's, when he was a Boy Scout.

So would this be the armpit of the tree?
Or the crotch of the tree?

Just another shot of Leroy, in black/white, playing with the contrast a little.

April 19 108/365

Just like a dog, my son enjoys a nice car ride with the window down.

April 18 107/365

Two pictures today, instead of one. It's the same shot, I just played with the color in the second one, which is actually the first one, because I never remember that blogger loads the pictures in reverse. I do love Picasa 3!

April 17 106/365

Yeah, I know it's been 3 weeks. I have no excuse other than my own laziness. It's not like I don't have enough time in my day for 10 minutes of picture-taking and another 10 for blogging. I'm just lazy. This is a crazy time of year at school, but still.

Anyway, back to blogging.

Here's an action shot of Sadie running around in the back yard. There's still a good amount of leaves on the ground, and the grass isn't yet back to 100% green. (It is by now, three weeks later.)

Interesting wood grain on my closet door.

April 15 104/365

After this is finished and felted, it will be a case for my sunglasses.

April 8 97/365

My first attempt at photographing the moon. I actually hauled the tripod out to the backyard for this. AND I moved the trampoline because I couldn't stand where I wanted to since it was in the way. If I weren't so lazy, I could retouch it and get rid of the utility wires.

March 31 89/365

I don't know who this guy is, but every day, during "rush hour," he is standing on the corner of Walnut and San Antonio streets, "strumming" up business for Little Ceasar's Pizza. He's very serious about his guitar playing, and he will wave to anyone who waves to him. Again, it's nice to see someone who enjoys his work so much.

Sadie's first official Bluebonnet portrait.

March 27 85/365

I went to the Dallas Blooms flower show at the Arboretum with my best friend. It was a picture-taking extravaganza! This was the first picture I took and it is probably the best, as far as photographic quality goes.

March 26 84/365

Downtown Austin, Texas, in the rain.
I lived here for 5 years and I still consider it to be my hometown, to some extent.

I had coffee with a friend of mine today.
He has this lovely adornment on the dashboard of his car.
Gotta get me some bobble-head Jesus!

"Take me home, country road..."
Too bad I don't actually live down this road.

YAAAWWWWWWNNNNNNN!
